Like an illusionist straight out of a Borges novella, Melingo is back.

Argentinian actor and poet Melingo brings the rough and tumble of his rock background to his barrelhouse take on tango. Edgy, rough and smokey, Melingo’s world is one of whiskey, loose women and criminal slang. Dark, dangerous and exciting, his gruff voice and cut throat looks give his music a raucous edge and reclaim tango as music for lost people. In his vagabond shoes he cuts an extraordinary theatrical presence, somewhere between Paolo Conte, Tom Waits and Ian Dury.

Listening to Anda, his new album, released on 23 September, is like enjoying a Fellini film with your eyes closed, losing yourself in a sound suite of baroque scenes in which each piece pulsates and destabilises us. He conjures forth his original tango with a gallery of spectres and lowlife teetering on the edge of reality.

“The man who makes Tango seriously cool!” The Independent

“A mesmerising stage presence.” The Times

Before Melingo, DJ Paola Feregrino (Entre Dos Tierras Club) spins modern tango, and Argentinean rock and blues classics.
