Filmed in Cuba, Mambo Man has been a stealth success during the pandemic, picking up more than eighty film festival awards in the last year, from Best Independent Feature at the New York Independent Cinema Awards, to Winner of The European Independent Film Award.

This first UK cinema screening will feature a live performance by musicians from the film.

Based on a true story, in 2017, after more than half a century since Castro’s revolution, Cuba opens her arms to the West and the Yankee dollar. JC is a big fish in a small
pond – a local music producer and promoter, farmer and small-time hustler who lives
by his wits and imagination. An unexpected phone call offers the chance to make a fortune and change his life forever. This triggers a frantic search for cash and a mysterious rendezvous that leads to a nerve-racking finale.

The soundtrack features a stellar line up of musicians, including Grammy award-winning Eliades Ochoa (Buena Vista Social Club), Juan de Marcos Gonzalez (Afro-Cuban All Stars), Candido Fabre, David Alvarez and others.
