Grupo Niche is Colombia’s most emblematic salsa orchestra who have conquered the world for more than thirty years with their Cali-style salsa. They recently released  the album Tocando el Cielo Con Las Manos, containing a bunch of potential hits and demonstrating that the band is still at the top of its game.

Grupo Niche was formed by Jairo Varela and a group of like-minded, talented musicians and made their debut with the release of Al Pasito in 1980. After becoming one of the major tropical acts in their native country, the group had the opportunity to participate in a salsa festival at New York’s Madison Square Garden in 1986.  The band brought their dynamic sound to Europe for the first time in 1989. During the ’90s, Grupo Niche turned to romantic lyrics, leaving behind their traditional songs based on social issues and had numerous hits such as “Ana Mil”, “La Canoa Rancha” ‘ Cali Aji”, ” Una Aventura” ‘ Cielo de Tambores”, ” Gotas de Lluvia” and ” Cali Pachanguero”. Richie Valdez is the new musical director and Grupo Niche is alive as ever. To close La LInea 2014 the band will present their new work (including their summer hit “Un día después”) and all the old favourites from the golden age of Colombian salsa.

The band will be joined on stage by the award-wining dance duo Cali Swing demonstrating the moves that swung all of Latin America.

Supported by a top line-up of London’s finest Colombian salsa djs to keep you dancing to the madrugada.
