The Brazilian singer, songwriter and instrumentalist Ed Motta , wrote John L Walters in London Jazz News, “is a pop artist with the soul of a jazz musician. He makes light, seemingly effortless music that connects with musicians and jazz fans at a profound level, through artistry, musicianship and an engaging personality.

His work covers many genres utilising influences from jazz to popular Brazilian music, rock to Hollywood film soundtracks, funk, classical, bossa nova and reggae.

Tonight Ed, backed by his stellar band,  plays from his substantial back catalogue and  showcases music from his latest release AOR, an outrageously accurate tribute to the super-smooth, musicianly ‘Yacht Rock’ of the late 1970s (Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers, etc.)

Ed has played with names such as Roy Ayers, Chucho Valdés, Jean-Paul “Bluey” Maunick, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Paul Griffin, Bernard Purdie, Bo Diddley, Ed Lincoln, Mondo Grosso, Marcos Valle, João Donato and Dom Salvador, among many others.

“Absolutely Sublime” The Independent on Sunday

“Ed Motta is the Don!” Gilles Peterson

“Maybe the UK is finally ready for this Brazilian giant.” London Jazz News
