In Mexico, Morrissey has always been more than just a musician. His songs have chimed with a huge audience raised on rancheras and mariachis.

Now a band made in Mexico City has reinvented the songs of Morrissey and The Smiths: a brass and string led combo from the smallest village with the biggest bleeding heart.

Led by Camilo Lara of Mexican Institute of Sound, Mexrrissey has toured the UK to sold-out crowds and released their first album, No Manchester (a Mexican slang phrase inspired by The Smiths, meaning ‘No Way’ or ‘Are You Kidding Me?’), to critical acclaim.

Let them show you what happens when songs born on the streets of Manchester change their haircut and outfit and go to live in Mexico under an assumed name.

‘A tribute to everything Morrissey has been to Mexico, and everything Mexico has made him to be’ Fusion

‘One of the best shows I think I’ve ever seen’ New York Observer
